A life carried forward in memory.

Tora crossed the bridge yesterday (8/17/16). We (ARSF) pulled him out of the pound last year. He had signs of neglect. The owner forgot about him for 10 years, and suddenly decided to get rid of him. Why? Maybe they got a puppy and the dogs didn't get along? My heart aches, but it's OK. He deserved a piece of heart to take with him. I am just thankful that Dorie gave him a chance and time for me to mentally prepare before losing him.

Held close by ARSF

A heart appears beside the names of 77 Akitas for whom rescue became their final home.

They may not have reached a traditional adoptive family, but they were not without one. They were sheltered, cared for, and loved by the ARSF community through the end of their lives.

The heart honors that bond.
